Debating

Term 2

Congratulations to the BSC Debating Teams for a strong finish to the interschool debating season in the last week of Term 2. Both of our Year 10 level teams made us proud debating the topic "That crops that require substantial environmental altering (irrigation, fertilizers, etc.) should not be allowed to be grown in Australia." Team 1, consisting of Viv S, Archie L, and Isaac R had a win against worthy opponents from Brighton Secondary College, while Team 2 with Chloe M, Grace G, and Ayesha G were bested by two points by McKinnon Secondary. An extra congratulations to Ayesha for winning best speaker in her debate, and to Chloe and Viv who stepped up to debate very competently at Year 10 level - two years above their actual year level!

All of our debaters have worked extremely hard at lunchtimes and after school to represent Beaumaris Secondary College on Wednesday evenings throughout the semester, and with the conclusion of the interschool season we will be continuing on in Semester 2 with other public speaking competitions, such as the British Parliamentary Debates and the Youth Model UN.
