Dear Parents / Carers
Excerpt from The Archbishop’s Charter for Catholic Schools
9. Work with Parish Priests in nurturing communities where the celebration of the Eucharist, the Sacraments, Sacred Scripture, prayer and Catholic symbols support students in developing a personal relationship with Jesus.
(The Archbishop's Charter assists schools to reflect on and revitalise their understanding of the mission of the Church, and how it is lived out in schools.)
Ash Wednesday is one of the most important holy days in the liturgical calendar. Ash
Wednesday opens Lent, a season of fasting and prayer. The ashes symbolise the dust from which God made us, they also symbolise the grief that we have sinned. The ashes are made from blessed palm branches, taken from the previous year’s Palm Sunday Mass.
Project Compassion - Caritas Australia
Project Compassion is Caritas Australia’s annual Lenten fundraising and awareness-
raising appeal. It is a time when we can come together as a school community in solidarity with the world’s poor to help end poverty, promote justice and uphold dignity.
Today individual Project Compassion boxes will be sent home, giving families the opportunity to donate where they can.
