Lent

Lent is a period of 40 days during which Christians remember the events leading up to and including the death of Jesus Christ, whose life and teachings are the foundation of Christianity. The 40-day period is called Lent after an old English word meaning 'lengthen'.

Lent is the solemn Christian religious observance in the liturgical year commemorating the 40 days Jesus Christ spent fasting in the desert and enduring temptation by Satan, according to the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke, before beginning his public ministry.

During the season of Lent, we observe the three essential behaviours: Prayer, Fasting, and Almsgiving, as the three things we need to work on during the season.

Reconciliation

The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be offered this term for Year 3 students and any older students wishing to receive the Sacrament. The Parent & Child Workshops are scheduled for Wednesday 15th March at 5p.m & 7p.m and Thursday 16th March at 7p.m at St Agatha's Church. Parents and children only need to attend ONE of these meetings.

Candidates are invited to bring an item of importance with them to the meeting.
