More New Faces

Nicola Bailey - Maths/English teacher

I am very pleased to have joined the teaching team at Nazareth College. My first few weeks getting to know both staff and students have been great, and everyone has made me feel so welcome. Mostly, I have managed to be in the right place at the right time! I have taught for many years in a variety of roles and schools including primary. My passion is helping students learn how to learn and become lifelong lovers of learning. You will find me mostly in year 7 and 8 Maths classrooms this year. I am an absolute Star Wars Fan, enjoy walking my dog on the beach, trying new places for breakfast with my husband, and spending time with family, especially my three grown-up children.

Olivia Giblin - HPE/English teacher

Hello Nazareth Community! My name is Olivia Giblin and I have the pleasure of being MAC1’S Pastoral Teacher as well as teaching English and P.E here at Nazareth College. Originally from South West Victoria, my family run a dairy farm just outside the town of Terang. I decided to move to Melbourne to complete my teaching degree at the Australian Catholic University and currently live in Richmond. On the weekends you can find me frequenting Richmond cafes, walking ‘The Tan’ or playing sport (AFL [Go the Cats], netball or swimming). I also love traveling, hiking and exploring Melbourne’s restaurants. I would like to thank the staff and students of Nazareth for welcoming me so warmly over these past few weeks.

Fun Fact: I’m left handed and played the piano for eleven years.

Roland Khayat - Woodwork teacher

I was born in Lebanon and am a Woodwork teacher with six years experience. I have also taught Science, Digital Technology, Systems Engineering and Electronics. Before teaching I held various positions as a mechanical engineer in Automotive, Aerospace and Building services. As an engineer I bring a strong problem solving and design focus to my woodwork classes and encourage students to take on ambitious projects where they can push themselves to learn how to solve problems and gain a deeper understanding of what is involved in designing a building products. I had a daughter last year who takes up most of my time outside school, but I also have an interest in meditation and yoga.

Hayley McMillan - Head of House McCormack, English/Italian teacher

Hi! My name is Hayley McMillan and I am joining Nazareth as the head of McCormack House, along with teaching English Language, English and Italian. In my free time, I enjoy reading, heading to the beach and spending time with family and friends.

I have loved starting to get to know the students, staff and families of Nazareth College and have felt very welcomed here. Thank you!

Shane Palmer - Facilities and Maintenance Team

I have recently joined the Facilities and Maintenance Department.  I’m enjoying my time at Nazareth and getting to know the team.

Workwise, I started in the car trade selling cars.  Over time I started my own mechanics/RWC company in Dandenong South and serviced a lot of the South Eastern area and car dealerships.  Over the last 5 years, I’ve cut back hours and done a few maintenance jobs here and there.

I enjoy golf and play this a few days a week.  I’ve grown up on water and have enjoyed many boating/water skiing trips with my family over the years.  Over the last five years I’ve enjoyed trips abroad but have also enjoyed trips throughout Australia via motorbike.

I have four children and six grandchildren who I am very proud of.  It’s great being able to spend time with the grandkids, you always get to hand them back!!

I am looking forward to my time at Nazareth and meeting the Community members at College events.

Leesa Reynolds – Food Studies/Textiles teacher

I have taught at various schools over the last 14 years. Recently, I worked at Blackburn High School, but I found Nazareth College whilst looking for a Christian school, and shorter driving distance. This year I am looking forward to getting to know my students in Year 7 Textiles, Years 8 – 10 Food Technology, VCE Food Studies and my Chisolm House Pastoral Group.

When I’m not working, I like to cook and sew clothing (what a surprise!) I wish I had more time to sew. I also enjoy camping with family and friends and have been on a few four-wheel drive adventures, such as the Simpson Dessert, the Flinders Rangers, and the east coast of Tasmania. I can’t wait to learn more about my students. I hope the food my students cook will be shared and enjoyed with their families.

Mrs Sherene Rozario – Mathematics/Science teacher

My name is Mrs. Sherene Rozario. I am also the McAuley 5 Pastoral Group teacher. I have been teaching Mathematics and Science for the last 28 years. I started my teaching career as a mathematics lecturer delivering content to students in Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Engineering and Bachelor of Computer Science. Over the past few years, I have worked in developing the learning and organisational skills of students in the areas of Science and Mathematics with extra focus on gifted learners. I am also involved in providing support to High School students with additional learning needs and scaffolding them to attain their best. Having worked internationally and in Australia I am keen to bring my experiences, pedagogy and rigour in catering to the learning needs of all my students.

I am looking forward to having a productive and constructive time here at Nazareth College!
