VCAL morphs into two new qualifications; the VCE Vocational Major  and Victorian Pathways Certificate

The VCAA, after much consultation, have designed a new program for applied learning students in their final two years of their secondary schooling. Students at Nazareth spend three days a week in the Joseph Centre studying Literacy, Numeracy, Work Related Skills, Personal Development Skills, Religion, and VET Active Volunteering. A further day is spent at a VET Course of their choice, and the final weekday is allocated for a day at work in the potential industry area students wish to pursue.

Structured work placement – seeking businesses to support our  Year 12 VCAL and Year 11 VCE-VM students

We have students in a number of industry areas who require a welcoming work environment to show them the ropes. Careers can seem quite different on paper compared to actually undertaking the roles and responsibilities in a workplace. Dependent on what day students attend TAFE for their VET course, Wednesdays and Fridays are work options. Students are able to perform routine duties, which can expand as a student’s knowledge and skills develop through their attainment of their VET units of competency. Work placement students require a supervisor and clear instructions and demonstrations of the tasks they will perform. Students can stay with the same business for up to 20 work days (one day a week for the semester.) Students have prepared for the world of work by studying safe@work Industry Specific modules, and fall under the College’s Workcover.

We require work placements for students studying:

Electrotechnology (Electricians, Appliance Repairs, Retail Electrical)

Health Services (Medical Clinic, Aged Care, Chemist, Allied Health Centre)

Building & Construction

Hospitality (Cafe, Restaurant, Caterer, Bakery)

Beauty (Day Spas, Beauty Clinics, Nails, Brows, Makeup Retail)

Business (Office work)
