Music at MAG

Invitation to Students to Join our Primary Vocal Ensemble

The foundation for all music education is based first and foremost around singing and the voice. Not only is singing in a group beneficial for all musicians, it is a core and fundamental element in society, improves aural skills, musical literacy, and confidence in performance – and of course, can be extremely fun!

At MAG, we offer a Primary vocal ensemble (Jr Singers), and encourage any students from Years 3 - 6 who enjoy singing and music to join.

Jr Singers rehearsals for 2023 will commence Tuesday 14 February (Week 3) before school from 8.15-8.45am in JS4, led by Mrs Fiona Gibbs.

Participation in Jr Singers does not incur a cost however, a high level of individual commitment to attend weekly rehearsals will be required to ensure the ensemble is able to progress.

Extra-curricular Music Lessons

We are fortunate to offer a variety of instruments available for students to learn through our extra-curricular music program. We have a great team of music tutors who offer quality lessons and provide ongoing support to students so they can gain confidence in playing, and participate in a range of music performance opportunities.

The beginning of the year is a great time for students to commence learning an instrument and places for 2023 are filling up quickly.

Joining us in 2023, we are thrilled to welcome back Kim Kneebone to our team of extra-curricular music tutors at MAG.

About Kim:

Kim Kneebone has over twelve years experience tutoring guitar to all ages and taught at many of the schools locally around the district including Moama Anglican Grammar and is returning after a few years break. Many of Kim’s previous students have enjoyed success with their musical talents including past MAG students; Heidi Moncrieff, Amelia Lannen and Jaymi Clancy.

Kim enjoys performing at her own gigs, singing and playing as well as song writing and is currently negotiating a contract to record with a Nashville based producer. During her teaching career, Kim has enjoyed teaching over 45 students annually. Alongside teaching the skills and theory needed to play the guitar and sing, she likes to promote enjoyment and confidence and enjoys watching her students develop and perform.
