Primary School

What a great start to the year we have had. It has been lovely to reconnect with our School community after the holidays and to welcome our new students and their families to our school. We are amazed at how quickly the students have settled back into their school routines. After completing school readiness meetings before their first formal day of school, the Kindergarten students should all be congratulated on their resilience in ensuring an incredibly smooth start to the term. Primary students enjoyed meeting our new Principal, Mr Scott Downward, on Monday when he visited each classroom in the Primary School.

Last week, students attended their first Primary Assembly. Students enjoyed the staff holiday highlights and the student performances from both Primary and Secondary students. This year, we have two scheduled Primary Assemblies each term and we welcome families to attend these events. This term, assemblies start at 2:15pm in the Multipurpose Hall on Friday 3 March and Friday 31 March. We look forward to seeing you there.

We would like to thank our families who attended the Carols on the Lawn concert last year and supported the fundraisers for the ERH Cancer and Wellness Centre. We are pleased to announce that we raised $1,061.44 which is a fantastic effort by our community.

To support possible future families who are currently considering their child’s education and would like to find out more about our school, we are offering a 30-minute obligation free Zoom information session on Tuesday 21 March and Thursday 4 May. Topics which will be discussed include; curriculum opportunities, co-curricular and extra-curricular programs, student wellbeing, enrolment process, fees, key dates and other general information.

In addition, the School will be present at the Echuca Moama Market Sound Shell Gardens in Moama on; Sunday 12 February, Sunday 5 March and Sunday 26 March. Our school leaders will be involved in running student activities and we look forward to connecting with you at the market.

Peer Support Training

All our Year 6 students were involved in a full day of Peer Support training on Friday 3 February. The Year 6 classroom teachers Mr Callum Gibbs and Mrs Kiralee Pascoe did an amazing job in coaching our Year 6 students to be aware of their leadership role as leaders of the Primary School. Throughout the day, students worked collaboratively in teams to unpack the roles and responsibilities of being a leader. This year, students will be given lots of opportunities to practise and finetune when teaching Primary students during peer support. We look forward to seeing them develop into these roles.

Commencement Assembly

Please join us at the upcoming Commencement Assembly where we celebrate the beginning of a new year. We are looking forward to welcoming the new Kindergarten students and introducing the 2023 Year 6 Leadership group to our School community.

Student Individual Learning Plan ILP

For those students on an ILP, the plans from 2022 will continue to be implemented to support the students settle into their new classrooms. If your child is new to the School, teachers will use the ILP from their previous school. Teachers are currently collecting baseline assessment data which they will use when reviewing your child’s ILP at the end of Term 1, ready for implementation in Term 2. Each ILP is reviewed again at the end of Term 3 and shared with families in Term 4. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the relevant Student Diversity Coordinator (Mrs Mel Scott Kindergarten to Year 4 and Mr Kevin Turner Years 5 to 12).
