My congratulations to all for a busy and successful start to 2023 and first half of Term One. We are now well and truly into our normal routine and students should be accustomed to the College processes and expectations. As I move around the College I enjoy seeing happy students engaged in their learning program and embracing the Ag College environment.  My thanks to all staff, students and families for the positive start.

Thanks also to Jennie Stringer who was the chief organiser of this week's swimming carnival. Whilst I was unable to attend I believe it was great fun and well organised, and certainly very welcome given the hot weather we have been having.

Whilst still some time away, on the last Thursday of this term we will be conducting parent-staff interviews which will be an opportunity to discuss your child’s progress over the term and reflect on the interim report which will be emailed out the week prior.  Families will receive information later about the process for booking interviews.

I am really excited about next week's harvesting of the maize crop and producing pit silage. This year has been a bit of an experiment in growing a summer fodder crop as a way of increasing our water use efficiency and reducing our reliance on pellets in the dairy. We will be able to generate some useful metrics on dry matter and energy production per unit irrigation water and can then compare to growing pastures under flood and sprinkler regimes.

Please be safe on the roads over the long weekend.
