Out and About the School

Year 5 at Great Aussie Bush Camp!

Early last Monday morning Year 5 packed the bus for the 4 hour drive to the Great Aussie Bush Camp at Tea Gardens. Once we arrived we ate hamburgers for lunch and then unpacked our bags in our cabins. Then we left the camp to visit the beach for 2 hours. While we were there we had a girls vs boys sand castle competition that also came with digging the biggest hole. The girls won the competition but the boys had the biggest castle area. We loved swimming in the calm ocean and playing footy in the ocean using Mrs Browne as the try line!

Over the next two days we got to take part in so many different, fun and challenging activities. We went on a 17 metre tall swing, known as the giant swing. That certainly tested our teamwork and bravery. As well as that we got to go on the dual flying fox over Lost Island, high ropes, bushcraft, a disco and archery. We also took part in the County Fair, which is where we each have a certain amount of money and manage our own stall. Someone would always stay at the stall to keep it running while the others went and spent money at other groups’ stalls.

We had lots of fun at the Great Aussie Bush Camp getting to experience so many new things and we all think it was well worth the 4 hour bus trip there and back.
