Secondary Campus Report

Our Year 7-9 Fast Track students had the opportunity to work on their basketball skills with development coach Warrick Giddey from Melbourne United Basketball Team. Warrick is a former NBL superstar who played 449 games with the Melbourne Tigers.  Students thoroughly enjoyed the session. They worked on skill development and enhanced their knowledge of game strategies and tactics. The exercise links into the game sense unit and part of students' movement and physical activity assessment for this term. The Year 8 cohort are involved in the Melbourne Polytechnic Sustainability Program.  Students are working on the design and prototype of a sustainable product that will enhance life for people within the City Of Whittlesea.  The creativity of our students and their team approach to discovery and inquiry has been described as mature and excellent by the facilitators. We look forward to the end products and the sharing of their experiences with the school community. Thank you to Marcus F and the Inquiry team for their organisation and effort.

Next week is a big week.

All families are invited to Harmony Day on Tuesday beginning at 3:30 pm on our Secondary Campus. There will be a cultural ceremony and an opportunity to reflect and celebrate this wonderful occasion. A number of staff and students are involved with the preparation of the day and I encourage you to attend.

From the General Office:

A reminder to Year 9/10 students that $50 deposits for the Formal on May 28 are due in on April 15. Last day for our Easter Raffle Tickets is March 16. Tickets can be purchased from the office. The raffle will take place on Friday, March 20. School levies are due to be paid in full by Friday, March 20 to be eligible for the $50 discount. The Instrumental Music Program is excited to announce there are still limited spaces available for lessons on the following instruments: Drums, Violin, Saxophone. Enrolment forms can be collected at the General Office. A reminder that from Monday you can log on to Sentral and book Parent-Teacher interviews to be held on Tuesday, March 24 between 3:30-8 pm. Families are encouraged to leave at least 15 minutes in between cross-campus interviews. This is a really important contact opportunity as it enables teachers, students and their parents/guardians to reflect on organisation, academic progress and their approach to their studies as they prepare for the learning demands of Term Two.

Finally, celebration assemblies will be held on the last Friday of Term One beginning with the Secondary Assembly at 10:30 am and followed by the Primary Assembly at 12:15 pm. The assemblies will be held after the whole-school cross- country event that will begin at 9 am. Year 6 students will be attending the Primary Assembly and be dismissed from the Primary campus at the end of the day. Both campuses will finish at 1:15 pm.

Thank you for your cooperation and support once again.

Bill.
