Bradman News

This Term’s cluster sport was the Olympics, allowing for different athletes each week to demonstrate their skills and lead us to many victories. Bradman began their Olympics campaign playing volleyball against Chang where the girls were unbeatable for the entire game. The boys played a very tough match and once they became familiar with the sport they didn’t lose many points and overall Bradman was able to win. Whilst everyone who participated gave it their best, Sheena Dang’s outstanding serves led the girl’s team to victory and Lola Castro, Deanna Ganci and Tiffany Summut united to ensure they hit the ball back over the net.
Basketball was the next game played where Bradman was able to bring home another win, defeating Winton. It was our excitement and enthusiasm both on and off the court that allowed our athletes to ensure they remained undefeated. Cameron Puzon was exceptional, as even though his glasses fell he still ensured the ball remained in his possession. Stand outs for the girls were Amelia Dorian and Hannah Pavlidis who worked well together in order to get the ball down the court and score goals. Bradman then participated in European handball where the girls made it difficult for MacKillop to score through their constant pressuring defence. We were also able to score some goals with the help of Elane Le’s brilliant speed and accuracy to dodge her opponent and score goals. The boys were very eager to play handball, as the Bradman boys all wanted to participate. However, because of their great sportsmanship all of the boys ensured they all had equal time to show off their skills.
Bradman were very enthusiastic to participate in the athletic runs where almost the whole of Bradman took part ensuring we were able to receive the most runs possible. Even though the baton was dropped, this demonstrated Bradman’s drive, commitment and eagerness to put their best foot forward. This sport was extremely exciting with Lance Petherick being the only teacher to participate, encouraging our students by racing against them. Mathew Santiago was a great addition to our team, running consistently with his immense speed allowing him to overtake the other cluster. Although we were defeated this was an amazing effort from all involved.
The final Cluster sport for the year saw Bradman playing handball for the second time, against Dunlop. At the commencement of the game, the girls showed fabulous team work, defending very well against a strong opposition. Geraldine Vytilingam was a sensational goal keeper defending an endless amount of throws and Bea Rodriguez defended extremely well pressuring the opposition. At half time, Bradman was trailing behind Dunlop, therefore it was up to the boys to bring home Bradman's last Cluster sport win for the year. It was evident that the Bradman boys were eager to win and did not give up. Throughout the duration of the game, both teams scored points, until it was a tie with 30 seconds left. Everyone on the Bradman sidelines were screaming and cheering as if they were at a football stadium on the edge of their seats. Due to the boy’s brilliant team work, Kyle Haddad was able to score the last goal, leading the Bradman cluster to victory. The boys who played during that match were all standouts with Mathew Pejic, Brandon Galea and Jordan Mant ensuring we had endless amount of shots at goals and scoring. Similarly, Christopher Coleiro, Joseph De Pasquale and David Maney who defended their opponents and constantly threw the ball down to the other side of the field allowing for shots at goals. Even though a nervous and thrilling game, it was by far one of the best games Bradman had played. Our Cluster is not only talented, but doesn’t give up and will always work as a team to achieve our best, showing sportsmanship and that we are proud to be a part of the Bradman cluster.
Thank you to the entire Bradman Cluster for their efforts both on and off the field during cluster sport this year and their participation in SACCSS sport has been amazing. It has been an absolute honour to have led such a wonderful group of peers, making my role enjoyable and I am sure I will look back at this experience fondly.
