Lord Jesus,

You who loved the poor,

Give us eyes and a heart directed toward the poor;

Help us to recognise you in them,

In their thirst, their hunger, their loneliness and their struggle.

Enkindle within us the gifts of

Courage, simplicity, humility, grace, and the fire of love

That burned in St Vincent de Paul and Blessed Frederic Ozanam.

Strengthen us,

So that faithful to the practice of these virtues,

We may contemplate you and serve you

In the person of the poor,

And may one day be united with you in your Kingdom.

Feed The Hungry Dinner

As part of Catholic Regional College Sydenham’s Social Justice program the Student Leadership Group have run a series of activities over the term to raise awareness of the challenges that some people in our society and beyond face. In their efforts they have attempted to make a practical demonstration of our College community’s commitment to the Gospel Values of Service, Love and Recognition of the dignity of each human person.

In particular, they have attempted to raise awareness of the needs of young students studying in the country of Timor Leste. We seek to raise money to provide scholarships to 21 students studying in the village of Railaco. These funds will also provide much needed educational resources, as well as contribute to building and service works as nominated by local communities in Timor Leste.

Our students have organised a fundraising dinner to be held in Quatrefoils Restaurant on Thursday 8 September at 6.30pm. Money raised will go towards these ongoing projects that we are committed to in Railaco and beyond. 

Tickets are $50 per person, drinks included in the price. A three course dinner will be provided by Nick Weiler and his team at Quatrefoils. This is fantastic opportunity to support our students involvement in Social Justice while enjoying the wonderful service provided by students at Quatrefoils.
