2017 Sporting Success

Football and Futsal

2017 has been one of the most successful years ever for our school Football and Futsal teams. We have had nine of our 10 teams qualify as regional semi finalists, and from this five were crowned regional champions with one team declared the regional runners up.

Mr Alfonsi, a long term driving force behind the football success of Cecil Hills High School, was ecstatic in praising the success of the staff and students.  “To be able to have some many teams declared as regional champions and in doing so beat the likes of Bossley Park HS, Westfield Sports HS and other schools with specialist talented football programs, is easily the best overall achievement I have seen in my time at Cecil Hills.”

Along with the team success, there have also been a number of individual performances from our students who have been selected in various Zone,  Regional and NSW State teams. In typical Cecil Spirit, the students that have been selected in these various representative teams have then given back to our junior programs and supported our under 14’s, 15’s and 16’s teams. Mr Chandler, the current 15 Boys Bill Turner coach, has enlisted the support of Year 11 students Jarrod Carluccio and Nathan Albazi to help guide the team to the regional final, only to be beaten by a very impressive Westfield Sports HS team.

Even with all of our success, we are hopeful of more. As I write this, our open Boys and Girls Football teams are travelling to Newcastle to both compete in the final 16 team state wide knockout. Success will see these teams qualify for the final eight in the state. Additionally, our three regional Futsal Championship teams will compete in the state finals in term three.

Finally our coaches, Miss Miletic, Mr Chandler, Mr Alfonsi, Mr Brookfield and Mr Condon were delighted by the standard of football, attitude, school spirit, commitment and sportsmanship shown by all our teams this year.
