Upcoming Events

Term 3 is always very exciting with lots of great events run at Jells Park PS. Keep your diaries free for the following upcoming events:

Performance Showcase on Thursday 9 August – performances from choir, Wakakirri, Danceaerobics and 25 selected musicians, singers and dancers from the student body. This was an outstanding night 2 years ago and this year will no doubt be the same. There are no tickets for this night, just a gold coin donation at the door.

Color Run and Obstacle course on Friday 31 August – brought to you by the Parents Committee and the Level 6 students. Not only is this a great fundraising event, but an exciting time for the students to participate in a fun event. Don’t forget your white t-shirt on this day and be prepared to get messy!!

Wakakirri, Danceaerobics and Energy Challenge – our teams are practicing hard and fine tuning their performances ready for these events. A great challenge for all the students and teachers and a significant part of the JPPS student development program.

Parent Opinion Survey

Many parents will have been recently asked to complete the annual Parent Opinion Survey. This is a really important survey and I would greatly appreciate getting as many responses as possible. This is one of a number of surveys that shapes the policies and direction of the school, so please aim to complete it in the next week or so. Thank you.

Environment

Now that the administration building renovations are completed I would like to turn our attention to making changes to the school environment that reflect the need for increased care and conservation of our grounds. We will be looking at addressing rubbish, water conservation, increased trees and plants and developing ideas for improved grounds for play. I would welcome an ideas and support in these areas, particularly from families with expertise in environmental care.

Street Parking

The council has made a number of changes to the street parking around the school. While the peak times will still no doubt be chaotic, hopefully these changes will increase the flow a little more. There is increased 2min ‘drop off – pick up’ space and a change to the permit positions as well. I would ask parents to make themselves familiar with the new parking arrangements so that you don’t end up with a ticket.
