Chaplain's Corner

Hi Everyone,

Well, it’s that time of year when our young people of grade 6 graduate, ready to move on to the next phase in their schooling and their lives.  It is always tinged with a sense of pride but also a sense of sadness as we say GOOD-BYE.  I wish them all the best for their future.  They take with them an increased resilience and perseverance, as well as (hopefully) new organisational skills and independence as they navigated two years around the current Covid pandemic.  I know that Sharon Witt, resilience speaker and secondary school teacher, noted that the year 7s at her school this year had come with these increased skills after 2020.

It is also time to say GOOD-BYE to some of the staff: Paul, Russell, Maria, Maja, Ginevra & Natika.  Our ‘loss’ is definitely others’ ‘gain’ as we at ACPS have been richly blessed with the talents and skills each one has brought.  I wish them all the best for 2022!

While saying GOOD-BYE does mean accepting that a part of our life is now over, it also provides us with a chance to realize just how blessed our lives have been.  To look back and reflect on the journeys we’ve shared with some wonderful people, while being exposed to amazing and invaluable experiences.

Regardless of how long someone has been a part of our lives, whether it’s five minutes, five years, or five decades, their impact will always remain with us—even after we utter that simple, yet hard to say, two-syllable word.

The quote below, from Walt Disney, may provide comfort:

“Goodbye may seem forever. Farewell is like the end, but in my heart is the memory and there you will always be".

That also goes to the students who may also leaving ACPS for other family reasons – thanks for the memories, and all the best in your new schools!

I would sincerely like to thank the whole school community for once again entrusting me with your children.  It really does ‘TAKE A VILLAGE’ - the ACPS community has once again pulled together during another difficult year. I look forward to continuing at ACPS in 2022!

I would like to wish you all, regardless of culture/faith, a very happy time together of joy and sharing over Christmas! May you all have a safe and relaxing holiday time, full of special family times.

TAKE CARE!
