Grade 1/2

THANK-YOU & HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

We can't believe this year has come to an end and would like to say a big thank-you for supporting your child through another tricky year! We have had a super year filled with laughter, fun experiences and lots of learning both online and in the classroom. We have enjoyed seeing your children grow and continue to build their knowledge and confidence.

We hope you have a happy and safe holiday and a Merry Christmas! We wish everyone a great year in 2022!

CHRISTMAS FUN!

In our last week of school, 2SB researched Christmas in other countries and here are some things they found out…

In Germany, Santa is called Der Weihnachtsmann. (Zane)

In Chile, Santa is called Viejito Pascuero. (James)

In China, Santa is called Sheng dan lao ren. (Ollie)

In America, Santa is known as Kris Kringle. (Jacob)

In Iran, Santa is called Baba Noel. (Emily)

An angel delivers Christmas presents to children in Germany instead of Santa (Henry).

In Greenland, they make a ‘Good Luck Pudding’ for dessert which has one almond in it. If you get the almond in your serving, you get a wish of good luck for a happy new year. (Violet)

In Japan, fried chicken is often eaten on Christmas day. It is the busiest time of year for restaurants such as KFC. (Dylan)

It is winter in the Northern Hemisphere at Christmas time. (Abby)

They eat roast turkey, seasonal vegetable, mashed potato and gravy in Canada. (Luke)

Children in Iran get new clothes, rather than other gifts at Christmas. (Ali)

1O have enjoyed some daily Christmas jokes and writing persuasive Santa letters!
