School Council President

Farewell and welcome

As we come to the end of the year, it's time to say farewell to some of our teachers and welcome some new faces. To those who are leaving, I sincerely thank you for your contribution to the school and all the effort you have put in to educating our students. To those who are joining us, welcome, and I look forward to meeting your early next year.

Grade 6 graduation

Thankfully we were able to hold our grade 6 graduation this week and what a great night it was. Congratulations to all our grade 6s and I wish you all the best as you transition to high school.

Gavin Andrew and I were there taking photos and we will compile them in to a private online photo gallery and send the link out to grade 6 families early next week.

You are welcome to download and use the images as you like (including getting them printed) but please do not share or publicly post images of any children other than your own without the express permission of the parents or carers of all the children in the photo.

New website

I'm proud to announce that our new website has now finally launched and can be viewed at https://andersonscreekps.vic.edu.au/ (the old website link will also redirect to this one). You may notice that some of the images are slightly out of date already - this is due to the redesign taking longer than expected and our series of lockdowns restricting school activities. We will be updating the images as we go through next year.

It's been a major project and the site features a completely new layout that works seamlessly on desktops, laptops, tablets and mobile phones. We have also rewritten and updated most of the content and redesigned the site structure to be more logical and easier to navigate.

This has been a volunteer effort and I thank the parents and staff who have been involved and helped so much as well as those who filled out our communications survey that guided us with the redesign. Our old website was well out of date and our new one will be much easier to manage and keep current.

We plan to feature more photos and videos of our students and their activities next year so if you'd like your child(ren) to be featured, then please make sure you fill out and return your media permission forms early next year.

Uniforms

As many of you are aware, we are modernising our uniform and switching to use our new school logo on all our branded items.

The new summer dresses, school bags and hats are already available at PSW and the remainder of the new designs (including the new polo shirts) will be available by the end of term 1. If you have any questions about what is currently available and in stock, please contact PSW Croydon.

End of another year

We all went in to 2021 expecting things to return to normal after such a COVID-disrupted year in 2020. We started the year positively and then were forced into yet another extended lockdown during the second half of the year.

Once restrictions were finally eased as our vaccination levels increased, it looked like the rest of the year would be uninterrupted. Unfortunately that was not the case and the last few weeks have been nearly as challenging as those we had during our lockdown.

We were fortunate to be able to hold some of our events including the grade 6 graduation but had to cancel others including our Christmas Carols evening.

If you have any feedback you'd like to give about the year or the school in general, please send me an email at james.harris2@education.vic.gov.au. I'm happy to hear from you over the holidays and will respond as soon as I can.

I hope you all enjoy a well-deserved summer break and have a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy new year.

Jimmy Harris
