Principal’s Update

Dear parents and carers,

I hope you and your families are well.

It has been a busy few weeks at school - we have had some wonderful incursions and have enjoyed returning to a somewhat normal school routine. All classrooms now have air purifiers installed. Once again, thank you to all the families who contributed towards the air purifiers that will help to keep our students safe.

It was fantastic to welcome our 2022 Preps to school during the week for their first transition session. They will return for two more visits over the coming weeks. Our current students will also participate in transition sessions for 2022 in December.

Please see the Dress Up Day page - it is this Thursday, November 25th. Zara and Hannah from Grade 6 have arranged this fantastic fundraiser for The Starlight Foundation.

There is a movie screening community event for CHPS families being held on December 5th at Palace Westgarth cinema. See the Encanto Movie Screening page for details. We look forward to seeing families there.

CLASS ALLOCATIONS FOR 2022

The following provides information regarding 2022 class allocations;

  1. All year levels, with the exception of our Prep classes, will be mixed.
  2. The allocation of teachers to classes has not been finalised and will not be confirmed until early December.
  3. Class lists will be forwarded home for grade 6 2022 on Thursday 9th December and for all other year levels on Tuesday 14th December.
  4. Grade 6 2022 students will meet with their new teacher on Friday 10th December and all other year levels will meet with their new teacher on Wednesday 15th December.

Students have the opportunity to list five friends they would like to be in a class with next year.  We guarantee to place your child with at least one person from their list.

The composition of classes is a complex and delicate balancing act; taking into account friendships, learning styles and needs, suitability of teacher, combinations of children and a range of other factors.

Should you have a significant matter to raise in relation to class composition for next year please complete the “Class List 2022 – Parent Request Form” via the link below by 4pm Wednesday 24th November.  Relevant historical requests will need to be updated using the link.  All requests must be submitted via this link rather than via email or phone call. Please note that not all requests will be met, particularly in relation to requests for a preferred classroom teacher.  Late requests cannot be accepted.

Please refer to the Class Placement Policy for more information regarding how requests for class placement are managed.

With the recent changes to restrictions, we will provide an update next week on how these changes impact school operations.

Stay safe and take care,

Megan
