In preparation for their first internal assessment, Year 11 Visual Art students, participated in a mini-excursion to the creek to explore and observe their surroundings with the goal of producing a range of experimental artworks.  Following this, a full day excursion in Week 2 of Term 1 next year will take place, which will see students travelling to various points of interest along the Brisbane River, including Nudgee Beach, Boondall Wetlands, Nudgee Cemetery, Nudgee Waste Transfer Station, Pinkenba, Northshore Riverside Park, Southbank precinct and the Gallery of Modern Art to visit the 10th Asia Pacific Triennial exhibition. During the excursion, they will be collecting artefacts, making notes, and documenting their chosen focus which will inform their individual inquiry and subsequent development of a body of work.

We would also like to congratulate the final “Artwork of the Month” winner for 2021, Francis Schutt, in Year 8 for two of his artworks produced as part of his folio of work in the Year 8 “Nature Translations” unit: a lino print depicting a floral design and a deep-sea fish constructed from cane, tissue paper, wax and ink.
