On Wednesday 8th December, our Year 8's at Beaufort Secondary College embarked on a school camp adventure to Anglesea for three days. Upon arrival we dove straight into our first activity – surfing with Sea Earth Adventures. Day 1 saw some nose-dives, driving hail and gnarly waves. After surfing, Chappy joined us and we went kayaking, again in the rain, but at least we were meant to get wet! Upon arriving cold and bedraggled at our accommodation, we were very happy to find a roaring fire and hot showers. After watching a movie in the recreational hall, it was time for bed to prepare for the long day ahead.

Day two dawned windy and overcast, but our spirits were not dampened - even though the grass was. We started the morning with team-building activities that included raft building. The Red Ants team got their raft on the water quickly, with great success. Purple Fish took a bit longer, and was a little less stable, however the team showed great resilience in getting their feet wet when they jumped out to push the raft off the sand bar. The next activity saw us riding with nature to create some great memories, while making some mosquitoes very happy to see us. After lunch, it was time for our second surfing session. This was more successful; there was no hail, and everyone was improving with every wave. Following such a busy day, chicken schnitzels and a bush walk were the perfect end.

Our final day bought us better weather; our final surfing session and a special guest appearance from Mr Schier who showed us how it’s done. For those who had mastered and retired from surfing there was boogey boarding and sandcastle making. After some morning tea we boarded the bus exhausted and ready to head home.
