Year 7 Student Profile

How I Am Aboriginal

By Ava Inglis, Year 7

The way that I am Aboriginal is because my mum’s dad is Aboriginal, so that makes me part Aboriginal. My poppy, which is my mum’s dad, works at Healesville Sanctuary. Every day he goes there and plays the didgeridoo and sometime I go and play with him but I play the clap sticks, since the girls are not allowed to play the didgeridoo. You may have heard of my poppy as his name Murrindindi, that is not his real name it is his Aboriginal name.
