Prayer for Reconciliation Week

God of all nations, we pray for our land Australia, this nation of islands.

We give you thanks for the diversity of peoples and cultures with which we live.

We pray that all who live here never lose the ancient connection

to the original people of our land.

Help us all, Lord, to hear and learn the stories

of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ancestors

so that we may be richer in our souls.

Help us to gather together as people of the red dirt, rich soil, salt water,

fresh water, mountains and plains into one.

We pray for all those who were here, those who came and those who will come.

Gather us all together Lord in your love.

National Reconciliation Week

The theme for this year’s National Reconciliation Week is More Than a Word. The College continues to grow the awareness of our role in building and maintaining relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island stakeholders. Our College proudly stands on Cameraygal land and we pay our respects to the custodians of this land.

The College celebrated our Reconciliation Assembly on Monday, being joined by Mr Phil Good, a local Aboriginal man who provided the Acknowledgement of Country. One of our new partners is The Glen Centre on the Central Coast and we were delighted for them to join us to perform and participate in our Reconciliation Assembly.

Our Indigenous friends performed in traditional attire, explaining the significance of their ochre body markings and highlighted each person’s totem and its connection to their story. They then performed their totem dance highlighting the link to Mother Earth. The elder then painted up our students with ochre as we also joined in with the dance of each totem linking to the creation story.

Our young men continue to embrace their role and responsibility as Ambassadors of Reconciliation. Our touring groups, be it cultural, sporting or immersion, proudly wear our Reconciliation shirt/jersey/top that links to our land and promotes the story of our role in Reconciliation.

The College was certainly party to an entertaining occasion and I thank our students for their respect and reverence as we continue in growing educational awareness of Reconciliation.

St Pius X College Annual Survey

The College's Annual Survey opened on Monday.

All parents, students and staff will have received an invitation to complete the Annual Survey and I strongly encourage everyone to complete this.

The survey link will close on Friday 11 June.
