Sporting In Schools - June

Sporting in Schools

A big thanks to JeJe for coaching students in AFL for the last 4 sessions. Students enjoyed themselves and learnt a range of skills. AFL has now concluded.

We have a new program running this term for the next 4 weeks. Jacqui Evans will be coaching the sessions. She will be teaching skill for both track and field events as well as fun games.

This program will be every Wednesday – 2nd, 9th, 16th and the 23rd of June. The session will be for an hour, starting at 3:15pm and finishing at 4:15pm.

However, our final session will conclude at a later time as we will be going into Shepparton to have our last session at the Shepparton Little Athletics Club on Numurkah Road. Students will travel by bus to and from school. We will arrive back at Toolamba Primary School at 5pm. More information will be provided closer to this date.

There is no cost involved, Sporting in Schools is a free program.

Please complete the consent form if your child/ren are interested.

Any questions, please phone the school or contact Sarah Maskell.

Shepparton Winter Division Sports

Last Friday the Toolamba PS fielded their own football team in the Division Winter Sports. We are very proud of the way that the team went about their 5 games. In our team of 15 players, we had ten of them playing their first organised match!

Throughout the day all players contributed. Tyson Webb was dominant across all five games. Max Thomas did a great job and was great in cutting off many scoring opportunities by our opponents. Eve Cook was ferocious in her first football game. A huge thank you to Ben Jeffers for being our goal umpire and to the many parents who came to watch the matches.

Even though we were not able to win any of our games, our performance against Guthrie Street was amazing - as we only lost by 4 points!

Division Sports- Netball

On Friday 21st of May, all the grade 5/6s caught a bus to Mooroopna and Shepparton. The Netball players played at McEwen Reserve. We wore our Toolamba netball dresses, there were two teams, a girls’ team and a mixed team. The girls team made it to the finals. Sadly, we lost to Mansfield whilst the mixed team unfortunately didn’t make it. Overall, the day was fun and thanks to Miss Maskell and Jackie Evans for helping us.

Winter Division Sports

For Winter Division Sports, I chose soccer out of netball, footy and soccer. I had a few friends playing it with me too. We played 5 games, sadly we lost 2 but we also won 2. We came a draw in 1 game. The teams we played were a tough competition but we managed to beat a few teams. We played at McEwen reserve on Friday where our team normally plays on a Saturday morning. Friday was a great day to be out and active playing the sport we love! It was a perfect day 😊

Division Sports Netball

What a perfect day it was on Friday for Division Sports! The Netballers and Soccer players played at McEwen Reserve and the Football players played at the John Grey Oval. In Netball I played GK and GD. We wore our Toolamba Netball Dresses and if you had your own, you brought it with you and if you didn’t somebody else would have supplied it for you. There were two Toolamba Teams, my team won 4 out of the 5 games and made it to the finals. In the finals, we got beaten by Mansfield.

Division Sport Netball

On Friday the 21st of may all the grade 5/6s went to Shepperton or Mooroopna to play either soccer, netball or football. I played netball in Shepperton, McEwen Netball courts. There were two Toolamba teams; a mixed team and a girls team. We all wore the Toolamba netball dresses. I was in the mixed team. Our team lost all of our games and the girls team won 4 out of 5 games. They made it to the finals but they got beaten by the other team. Some of the people that participated in the netball hadn’t played before and it was their first time playing. Overall, the day was great and we all had fun!

Division Sports Soccer

Fridays Interschool Winter Sports

On Friday,  of Toolamba kids in grade 5/6 represented our school by playing soccer at the McEwen Reserve in Shepparton. We played 5 x 16-minute games, with 8-minute halves. We lost 2 games, but came back with winning 2 and a tie. We began at 10:00 in the morning and then got ready to head back to school at about 2:00. Many thanks to Steve Varcoe, our coach for Friday, who helped us a lot along the way, pushing us to win. Thank you also to Nina Lemma, who organised all of our team with unique soccer tops.
