Principal's News

Mr Rodrigues

Dear Families,

What a wonderful celebration of books we all had yesterday with our very special Book Week dress up day and parade. Thank you all so much for the great effort in helping your children dress up for the day. If there is one thing we want our children to learn at school it is, that literature can bring each of us great joy and knowledge. Days such as yesterday allow us to celebrate the amazing work of so many talented authors and illustrators from all over the world. We hope all our children can leave Trinity seeing themselves as Readers and Writers.  Special thanks to Ms Shaw and Ms Marinelli and all staff for the great work in making our Book Week a special experience for all of us.

Book Fair - Ms Shaw

As part of this year's Book Week we were thrilled to hold our Scholastic Book Fair in the Library again this year and it was great to see students and Families browsing and buying books!
Thank you very much for your support and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
We also, very much appreciate you buying books and other items as we always receive reward points from Scholastic according to our sales and we can turn them into books for the library. So we are very excited and feel lucky that due to your support we have quite a few new books in the library.
Thank you very much!

Prayer:  A Reader’s Prayer

Leave me not, O gracious God, in such hours as I may today devote to the reading of books, magazines, internet websites, newsletters, and blogs or newspapers. Guide my mind to choose the right books and other written works, having chosen them, to read them in the right way. When I read for profit, grant that all I read may lead me nearer to you. When I read for recreation, grant that what I read may not lead me away from you. Let all my reading so refresh my mind that I may the more eagerly seek after whatsoever things are pure and fair and true.                                           Amen

MACSSIS (Melbourne Archdioces Catholic Schools School Improvement Surveys)

Each year, at about this time, our Governing Body (MACS) sends out to schools three very comprehensive surveys to be completed by students, parents and teachers.  The surveys cover a great range of areas which then give us considerable data to measure both our successes and challenges for the coming year. The surveys help us to identify our strengths, from the perspective of parents, students and staff, as well as areas for improvement. This year's surveys will be emailed to families to complete and I ask that, whilst it is completely voluntary, the more parents who complete the surveys the better the data for us to work with. All staff and our students from Year 3 to Year 6 will also complete these surveys.

Marketing & Promotion Meeting

On Monday morning following assembly we had a very productive meeting with staff and several parents to discuss our marketing and promotion strategies at Trinity. It was fantastic to gather the perspective and voice of parents sharing their thoughts about what led them to choose Trinity and what we can do as a community to ensure all families in our local and wider community are aware of what a wonderful school we have. The main points of our discussions were in relation to the many strengths of our school and why so many people have chosen Trinity in the past,   what Trinity is able to offer, that perhaps other local schools do not, and of course what we can do to ensure all those looking to enrol their children are aware of our enrolment policies, our great tradition of inclusiveness and, as a Catholic School its affordability in comparison to other schools. The final part of our discussions were around the possibility of hosting a major event early next year to open our school to the Richmond Community so as to further promote our school. Over the next few weeks and in Term 4 we will be looking for further input from parents in this very important area of our school improvement.
