ISAC ROTARY STEM CHALLENGE

Last Thursday, 2 teams of year 5 and 6 students had the fabulous experience of competing in the INTER SCHOOL ACTIVITY CHALLENGE (ISAC) STEM challenge which was organised by Somerville Rotary Club and sponsored by BlueScope. There were 8 teams from 5 local primary schools competing.

The challenge for the students was to construct a working catapult which was stable and accurate only using articles provided. The students had to design their catapult and then complete activities to prove distance and accuracy. All aspects of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) were needed to complete the task.

Both teams were outstanding and displayed teamwork throughout the event as well as their ability to be resilient and persistent.

Both teams collected a $50 cheque to purchase an item to add to our STEM room.
