St Fidelis Student Representative Council

The role of the Student Representative Council (SRC) is to facilitate and act upon student voice and choice within St Fidelis Primary School. The SRC comprises students from Foundation to Year 6.

Each student has been elected by their peers to perform the duties of a school leader who actively contributes to and participates in the solution of social and playground environment.

Furthermore, the SRC focuses heavily on helping others, particularly those observed within our school community.

‘The aim of the SRC is to listen to students, respond to feedback and suggestions and form strong teacher-student relationships to maximise achievement, and engagement and promote an increased sense of civic engagement. (Pautsch, 2010).

Therefore the SRC is considered to be a privileged and pivotal role where students represent the school in a variety of forums as well as work collaboratively with staff members to organise and coordinate special events. Through these experiences, SRC students have the opportunity to develop their understanding and abilities in a range of areas across the curriculum.

This year, the SRC has focused on organising lunchtime clubs. They are on a six-week rotation. Starting this week, Tuesday 6th September, we will have a loom band club. This Thursday 8th September starts the board games club. Students are encouraged to bring along the loom bands and board games from home. (We will have loom bands and board games for them if they don’t bring any from home).

This week there will not be a meeting for the SRC but we will have one next week. Our students on the SRC are very committed and dedicated to the SRC.
