Respectful Relationships

       STAFF PROFESSIONAL LEARNING

Andria Arendze and Lydia Ioannidis led a staff professional learning session after school yesterday where they informed all of us further about the state-wide Respectful Relationships initiative including its history dating back to the recommendations from the 2015 Royal Commission into Family Violence.

Andria and Lydia facilitated staff discussion and input into how we, as a whole school, can embed practices and approaches which will assist in the initiative’s goal to drive down incidences of family violence in our society. The professional learning session will help ensure that staff voice is considered (alongside a future student and parent voice) when planning for achievement across each of the wedges that combine to make a whole-school approach to building respectful relationships (please see the diagram below).

Mark came across this article recently and we wanted to share it with the broader RPS community. In this article by Ginger Gorman, The Lost Petition, local Narrm/Melbourne artist, Dans Bain, tells of the drawing of inspiration from the petition for women’s suffrage in the 1890s to transpose it now into raising awareness for an equally important societal issue. Dans’ artwork is as inspiring as it is confronting and thought-provoking.
