Hooptime Basketball

Students enjoyed a great day at the Basketball Victoria BDSSA Hoop Time competition on Friday August 2nd. It was a successful day for students, which saw both of our boys teams win their grand finals, meaning our Bushrangers team will progress to the next round of competition! The Bushrangers girls were unlucky not to be joining the boys in the next round of competition losing in a close grand final. The Redbacks girls were competitive all day and unlucky not to make finals, but they showed great improvement throughout the day and all of our teams played in great spirits and demonstrated our school values.

Regardless of the result each game, all four of our team’s demonstrated terrific sportsmanship and thanked the opposition, referee and scorers for the game. A big thank you to all the parents for their support on the day and especially Tim Smith who assisted by coaching our Redbacks boys team on the day.

Whittlesea Division Girls Soccer

On Wednesday July 31st, our Year 5/6 girls’ soccer team were lucky enough to compete in the Whittlesea Division finals. Competing against Marymede Catholic College and Whittlesea Primary school our girls had some tough competition. All three schools competed at a high level throughout the day and demonstrated great sportsmanship on the day.

Our first game saw us with an 8-0 win against Whittlesea Primary School where the team were very humble winners which was terrific to see. This set up a grand final like match against Marymede Catholic College, where the winner would progress to the regional finals. The girls put in an amazing effort to take a 3-0 win, they competed fairly and worked incredibly well as a team. They now progress to the regional finals on August 14th! Thank you to all the parents who came to support the girls and assisted in car pooling.

Some great news from two of our Year 6 boys!

In July, Kelly P (6-1) and Evan S (6-2) represented their Diamond Valley Baseball Teams, both players winning the "2019 State Winter Baseball Championship" in their respective age group. Both instrumental in their teams' win, they are now looking forward to the up and coming Summer season of Baseball with their club, Research Baseball Club.
