Celebrating Languages at Doncaster Secondary College

Languages Week is a fun, productive and inter-cultural experience for all staff and students.  This year we are celebrating languages week beginning Monday, 20 May.  There will be a broad range of activities and events that highlight the three languages we teach at Doncaster Secondary College, French, Italian and Mandarin.  There are opportunities to dress up in a cultural costume, enjoy gelato, compete in the amazing spaghetti eating completion, watch International Movies, engage in cultural workshops and more!

Why do we celebrate Languages Week?  No matter your age or stage of life, language learning is important in our globally connected world.  Being bilingual or multilingual can be a huge advantage as it opens up a wealth of opportunities. These opportunities include a broadening of future study and career options as well as expanding our world view and appreciation of cultural diversity.  Did you know that there are forty-six different languages spoken in the homes of our families?

Languages week is an opportunity to bring our learning community together in a meaningful and fun way.  Thank you in advance to the Languages Learning Area Leader Ms Tian and the team of languages teachers for their extra dedication and work to ensure the success of Languages Week.
