Nitro Athletics

On Thursday 12 September, 19 students participated in the Victorian Nitro Athletics competition. The team-based event saw the students compete against all schools across Victoria in a variety of athletics events to win points for their team. MGSC had three teams entered and came away with some outstanding results. 

 

Senior

  • Milly Webster finished 4th in the 60m sprint
  • Kisarna Berntsen finished 1st in the javelin
  • Jemmah Paton finished 4th in the long Jump
  • The senior girls finished 5th overall

Intermediate

  • Mia Sullivan finished 9th in the 60m sprint
  • Lulu Holloway finished 7th in the Javelin

Junior

  • Erich Jagonal finished 12th out of 27 in the 60m sprint
  • Charlotte Ryan finished 11th out of 27 in the shot put.
  • Iona Rogers finished 11th out of 27 in long jump

Congratulations to all the students who competed on the day. It was an amazing opportunity for all students in which they represented Mentone Girls’ with pride.

Welcome back to term 4!

This term we have some of our teams heading out to compete in their regional finals for some of the term 1 summer sports. Good luck to the Year 7 and 8 cricket teams, Year 8 table tennis team and Intermediate basketball teams.

 

Our student coaches will be presented with a Certificate of Appreciation for their efforts at our full school assembly coming up next Thursday 17 October. Well done to all of these students who have committed themselves and put in effort throughout their teams efforts.

 

Applications for 2020 student coaches in Year 9 to 12 will open up towards the beginning of Headstart. Keep an eye out in your emails and on compass for further information.
