Dear Level 2 Families,

Please see below for some important information and details regarding a range of upcoming events in our level.

CULTURAL DIVERSITY DAY:

On Monday the 27th March 2023 we will be celebrating Cultural Diversity Day at Vermont Primary School. On this day, students are invited to come to school dressed wearing clothing that represents their cultural identity, or orange to celebrate Harmony. We will be holding an assembly so that our students can share their costumes with the school and our community. Thank you for your effort in preparing your child for this celebration.

PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS:

Parent Teacher Interview registrations opened as of Wednesday 8th March at 9 am. Please ensure that you book a time with your child’s classroom teacher or let them know if an interview isn’t required. The booking system will be closed on Friday 17th March at 5 pm. Parent Teacher Interviews will be held both online and in-person to suit family needs, so please let your classroom teacher know via email what best suits you.

STUDENT ABSENCES:

As many absences are still occurring school wide, it is timely to remind parents of the following. If your child is absent, please email your teacher directly. Further, if you could then enter this absence on Sentral, it would be greatly appreciated. If your child has ANY symptoms, or they are ill in any way, we advise that they rest at home until they are feeling completely well again. Additionally, if your child is late to school, it is imperative that a parent / carer sign them into the office. Rolls are marked first thing and so if they are not signed into school on arrival, their Sentral profile may state absent for the full day.

HOME READING:

A reminder to parents that each student takes home a levelled reader each night. We do encourage parents to listen to their children read and ask them questions about their book. Please also ensure that the students complete their reading log located in the inside cover of their reader cover folder, by filling out the date and title of the book they read. This will help to hold them accountable for reading for at least 20 minutes per night. If parents could also sign off their child’s reading, that would also be greatly appreciated.
