Parent Teacher Interviews

A reminder that Parent Teacher Interviews are now open for bookings on Sentral, and will close on Friday 24th March at 5 pm. This year we are offering the option of face-to-face interviews or Zoom interviews. If you would like to complete your interview over Zoom, please ensure you have emailed your child’s teacher to let them know so they can send you a link to their Zoom meeting room. If you have any questions regarding bookings or times, please contact your child’s teacher.

The purpose of holding the meetings towards the end of term, rather than the beginning, is to provide you with a more consistent timeline of feedback throughout the year to keep you informed of your child’s progress. At these interviews, you will have the opportunity to discuss how your child is progressing academically, socially and behaviourally. You will also have the chance to update the teacher on any changes or explain aspects that were outlined on the Getting to Know You Form from the beginning of the year.

Clean Up Australia Day

Our school participated in Clean Up Australia Day and our students did an amazing job! They worked in teams to clean up the school and surroundings, picking up litter and removing weeds. Big thanks to everyone involved!

House Athletics Carnival

We are excited to report that Tuesday's athletics day was a great success! The weather was perfect and the students had a blast competing in a variety of track and field events.

The best part was seeing the students cheering each other on and having fun. Thank you to our volunteers for making the day possible.

Can't wait for next year's athletics day!

NAPLAN

NAPLAN assessments will commence next week for Year 3 students with Writing on Wednesday 15th March and Reading on Thursday 16th March. The Language Conventions assessment will be held in the following week on Monday 20th March, with the final assessment of Numeracy to be completed on Wednesday 22nd March. Sessions have been set aside across the two-week NAPLAN window to allow for students to catch up on any assessments they may have missed on the allocated day.

Please contact your child’s classroom teacher with any questions.

Year 3 Camp

This year Grade 3 Camp will be taking place on Wednesday 5th – Thursday 6th of April. As in previous years, we will be visiting The YMCA Recreational Camp in Mt Evelyn.

Unlike in previous years, all medical forms will now be completed on QKR. All medical forms and questions must be completed in order for your child to attend. This means there are no paper copy forms to be completed this year. The cost for the camp is $240, which can be paid in one or two parts on QKR. The first payment and medical information are to be completed by 13th March. If paying in two parts, the final instalment is due on 27th March.

We remind parents that this is an excellent learning opportunity for all students, and gives them a lifelong experience to look back on and share with their peers. It facilitates many teaching opportunities in the classroom and is an excellent introduction to the future camps that Vermont Primary School holds in later years of schooling.

We know due to the timing of the camp that lots of families have already booked holidays, so if this is the case and your child can not attend camp, please inform your child’s classroom teacher. If your child is not attending for a separate reason, this also needs to be discussed with the classroom teacher.

Year 4 Camp

Year 4 Camp is taking place from the 10th to 12th of May (Week 3 - Term 2) at Camp Oasis in Mount Evelyn. Important notices regarding camp payments, permission forms and medical information will be sent home in the coming fortnight. Please email Paul Souter if you have any queries regarding camp (paul.souter@education.vic.gov.au).

Cultural Diversity Day

On Monday the 27th of March, we will celebrate Cultural Diversity Day at Vermont Primary School.

Students are invited to wear clothing that represents their cultural identity or orange clothes which celebrate harmony. We will be holding an assembly so our students are able to share their outfits with the school and our community.

Throughout the week all our students will participate in a lesson that is planned around the topic of Cultural Diversity. Sharing our cultural diversity at school with friends, creates an environment of unity, understanding, mutual respect and harmony.
