Foundation News

A few friendly reminders from the Foundation Team.

Last week your child would have brought home a couple of important things in their ‘orange bags’. Please take a look out for them, they can come out of the orange bags now and stay at home:

1. Mathletics letter and log in details. You may keep the log in details at home as the students have another copy in the classroom.

2. A ‘Me Bag’ …. This is a part of our Inquiry unit where we are learning about what makes us unique and special. A date on the bag states when the students needs to return their bag with their 3 special items. The students will stand up in front of their classmates and talk us through their 3 chosen items, why they are special and any other information that they would like to add. Feel free to have a ‘run through’ at home to ease any nerves!

In regard to the ‘orange bags’, please make sure that the student Take Home Book Cover and the SMART Spelling book stay in the bag and come between home and school EVERY day. We understand that it can be challenging to get through everything every night but please try and ask your child about ‘the word of the week’ and the ‘sentence of the week’. It would be great if you could look at the common words together and practice reading them each night.

Any other sheets or activities that are in the orange bag can now stay at home. If the students are given any important school notes or any completed work to bring home, we will ask them to transport it in their orange bags. The notes and work can then stay at home.

Please make sure there is a named broad rimmed hat in your child’s bag each day. Unfortunately, no hat will result in not being able to play outside of the shaded areas.

Thank you for being so supportive, we are off to a fabulous start and look forward to a fun filled year!
