Jazz in the Park - Thank you

I need to say a huge thank you to the many parents and community members who made our 29th annual Jazz in the Park event last night such a success.

Jazz in the Park is such a great SKiPPS tradition and has brought together our community for music, food, drinks and fun for such a long time.

It was wonderful to see so many of our families and students in attendance, connecting, enjoying the delicious food and drinks and dancing to the incredible band.

In no particular order, I would like to thank the following people for making the event such a success;

  • SKiPPA, our Parents Association for their tireless work and flexibility to arrange and rearrange the evening around their other work and caring commitments. In particular Alana, Vandana, Tally, Allison, Brook, Mel H, Bec B, Chami, Briony, Karolina, Laura, Isla, Jessie, Kara, Judy and their team.
  • The small army of parents who signed up to volunteer via 'signupgenius'. All of our school events and fundraising only happen with the generosity of our community and we appreciate those of you who ran the stalls during the evening.
  • Susan Bishop, who has been here since the first Jazz in the Park 29 years ago and helped to organise the music for the evening.
  • Our staff members who volunteered their time, particularly Matt and Michelle, the last to leave at the end of the night.

We are already looking forward to our next school social event!

Mud brick workshop

On Monday of this week, members of our Green Team had the opportunity to work alongside Laura Marini, one of our wonderful SKiPPS parents, to take part in an 'Earth Workshop', making bricks at school using ancient techniques. The students got incredibly messy as they mixed the materials to make the mud bricks (including mixing with their feet!). They then used moulds to form the bricks and these will dry to become solid bricks.

We are incredibly grateful to Laura for donating the workshop to the school and our students had a great time creating their own bricks which we hope to use to build a lasting structure at the school.

School Photo Day

Our school photo day is coming up on Thursday 16th March.

Please make sure that your child is at school on this day (and on time) as there will be professional class group photos and individual student photos taken by MSP, our school photography partners.

You can easily order your own copies of these photos via Compass. On the homepage of the app or the website, you should see an 'alert' that prompts you to place your online orders (see below). Orders must be placed before (or up to 1 week after) photo day or additional fees apply.

If you would like your children to have a sibling photo together, these must be ordered in advance (by 11pm on Wednesday 15th March) as MSP will only take sibling photos that have been pre-ordered.

Student Engagement in Year 1/2

As part of the CAPSE (Creating a Positive School Environment)  the Year 1/2 students completed an activity which included sharing their favourite things about them and discussing these with their new classmates. The importance of assigning activities that build and support new friendships is vital to establish respectful  classrooms and relationships tween students and teachers.
