From the Principal

Dear Parent/Guardians,

As this most unusual and unprecedented term comes to an end I would like to wish all our families, students and staff a safe and relaxing term break. This year has truly been like no other. I know our staff have worked tirelessly this semester and would like to acknowledge their professionalism and commitment to our students.

Ms Nina De Goederen will be on leave for semester 2 and we wish her the very best, her replacement will be Ms Rebecca Humphry - welcome to Rosehill Rebecca. Ms Fellowes will also be on leave during term 3. We farewell Ms Sarah Mostyn who has been tremendous over the past 10 months and wish her all the best for the remainder of the year - Ms Leesa Wilson will return from maternity leave. And finally Mr Murone is also on leave next term and his replacement is Mr Mani Soni who is an experienced maths and ICT teacher - welcome onboard Mani.

As we head into the next term, the winter solstice has come and gone and we look forward to longer days and extra sunshine in the coming weeks and months. Let us hope this is symbolic of better things to come this year.

On 20th June we had our 4th school council meeting and the first ‘live’ meeting since term 1.  We used part of this meeting to conduct a self-assessment of school council operations and will use this data to determine any training requirements or opportunities for improvement in how we run and govern the school.  Thank you to all school council members for their participation. I would also like to acknowledge both Riley and Stephanie, our student members who had an exceptional busy week with SAC’s and pending exams but still managed to attend and contribute.  Well done.

The School Census is due 7th August 2020 and we are asking families to update their details.  Please see Compass post for information required.

Families can now access free expert parenting advice through the online Triple P – Positive Parenting Program.

The program is relevant to families with children between 2 and 16 years and provides strategies to deal with specific challenges, such as building children’s resilience and dealing with conflict.

There are courses specifically for parents of toddlers to tweens, and for parents of pre-teens to teens.

It gives parents strategies to:

  • raise happy, confident kids
  • manage misbehaviour so everyone in the family enjoys life more
  • set rules and routines that everyone respects and follows
  • encourage positive behaviour
  • take care of themselves as a parent
  • feel confident they’re doing the right thing.

Sign up to the program via their website.
