Annual Children's Forum 2022
On Wednesday over 100 grades 5 and 6 primary school students from 25 schools took part in the annual Children’s Forum.
The day was planned by Council’s Children's Advisory Group, who decided on the agenda, logistics and forum theme 'children's voices matter’.
This year our school was represented by two students on the Children's Advisory Group. Those students were Cristian and Marcel. This experience has been a wonderful opportunity for the students to see how council works, how decisions are made and how children can have a say in those decisions.
Resurrection School was lucky enough to able to take an additional two students to represent our school at the forum day. Those students were Chloe and Bianca.
Here is what our students had to say about the day:
On the 26th of October I went to the children's forum. At the forum I got to participate in fun activities to help the City of Greater Dandenong. I did three different workshops, the first one was to help with all the schools and it’s environment, the next one was to help design a pack for the new art gallery. I also did a few more activities, at the forum we had the Junior Mayor she was really confident in what she said. I made a lot of new friends and everyone was really kind, especially the teachers. This was an amazing experience and I would definitely go again.

On the 26th of October, we attended the annual children's forum, where 80 kids from different schools come together to do different activities. We attended various workshops with kids from other schools. We made new friends and got to talk to new people. We also had the chance to meet the Mayor of Greater Dandenong, Jim Memeti, and take photos with him. He gave both of us awards that we will both hang up to remember this great experience. It has been a pleasure to attend all the of Children's Advisory Group meetings with Cristian and Marcel. The boys have been wonderful advocates for our local community and they have represented our school well.
If your child is in year 5 and is interetsed in being on the Children's Advisory Group for 2023, encourage them to come and talk to Mrs Rowley about this opportunity.
