VICTORIAN CODING CHALLENGE

On Thursday, the 10th of November, six of our Senior School students represented OPPS in the Victorian Coding Challenge State-wide competition! They started their day by using a cipher to decrypt a series of codes before heading into the main challenge. The students worked in teams of 3 to solve problems based on Scratch, a block-based visual programming language.

After lunch, they embarked on their final challenge, which required them to uncover clues programmed into a Microbit (a pocket-sized computer with an LED light display, buttons and sensors), which would help them to write a program in Scratch to decrypt the final code.

All students had a fantastic day, and we are so proud of their commitment and effort throughout the challenge!

YEAR 2 SLEEPOVER

Last night our Year 2 students participated in the Year 2 sleepover. The students returned to school in their Pyjamas and enjoyed a hot chips and nuggets for dinner, a series of games in the gym and some popcorn while they watched a movie together.

We couldn’t be more impressed with our Year 2 students and the resilience they displayed for what was the first time away from home for many of them! They definitely showed that are ready for their camps program next year!

After the sleepover, our Year 1 and 2 students enjoyed two separate incursions by Supreme Incursions. They engaged in a ‘brickworks’ and ‘spykids’ experience.

YEAR 6 FUNDRAISING

Our Year 6 students have been doing a phenomenal job raising money for their Year 6 graduation. The students have been sharing the responsibility of setting up the canteen to sell Zooper Doopers at the beginning of each lunchtime. The students would like to extend their gratitude to the generous donations of Zooper Doopers by many of the families at OPPS so that they can continue to raise money.
