YEAR 12 GRADUATION AND EXAMS

Sunday’s Graduation Mass and Awards Ceremony were a wonderful celebration of our Year 12 students and a formal conclusion to their secondary education at Sacred Heart College. These events, together with the Year 12 Final Assembly last Thursday, were certainly a fitting finish for our Class of 2022.

Next week, our Year 12s begin their ATAR Course Examinations, with Chemistry being the first examination on Monday morning, followed by Geography in the afternoon. This is always a challenging time for students, but thorough preparation and hard work minimises examination anxiety. It is also most important that students keep a healthy lifestyle during the examination period. Eating well, lots of good rest and keeping hydrated ensures a healthy mind for tackling examinations. Our Year 11s will also commence their examinations in the coming weeks. I wish students sitting examinations the best of luck.

YEAR 7, 2023 ORIENTATION

This week, we had the pleasure of hosting our Year 7, 2023 incoming students for an Orientation Day. The enthusiastic students had the opportunity to experience life at Sacred Heart and I am certain that they enjoyed their time at our College. I am also confident that any anxiousness associated with commencing secondary school has now been converted to excitement and we look forward to welcoming back these students next year.

THE MAAR TECHNOLOGIES CENTRE

Yesterday, the College officially blessed and opened the new Technologies Centre which is now named the 'Maar Technologies Centre’. The word ‘Maar’ means ‘Hand’ in the Nyungar language.

After a beautiful Smoking Ceremony and Welcome to Country by Professor Len Collard, prayers were offered up by Fr Cyprian, staff and students, for all those who will use the facilities and those who were responsible for its construction.

Sr Marie Therese Ryder RNDM performed the official opening on behalf of the RNDM Sisters. Former Principal, Mr Peter Bothe and Director of Finance & Corporate Services, Mr Steve Martin, were responsible for the build and also attended this special occasion. It was pleasing to be joined by past Technologies staff members Mr John Bennett, Mr Ray Archibald and Mr Martin Trevor, as well as former Deputy Principal - Dean of College, Mr Trevor Lynch.

WORLD TEACHERS' DAY

Today is World Teachers' Day. I certainly appreciate the dedication of our teachers to Sacred Heart College and their commitment to education generally. Our teachers are very generous with their time for our students and I am very grateful for the manner in which they approach their work at the College. Many thanks to our P&F who acknowledged World Teachers' Day by providing a much appreciated lunch for our staff today.

LOWER SCHOOL MUSIC CONCERT

Our younger students who are part of the Music program will be performing tonight. I am certainly looking forward to attending the Lower School Music Concert and hope that I am joined by many families and friends. Tickets are free and can be reserved below or at the door.

God Bless.
