World Kindness Day
This Sunday is World Kindness Day. The day was first launched in 1998 by The World Kindness Movement, an organisation formed at a 1997 Tokyo conference of like-minded kindness organisations from around the world. There are currently over 28 nations involved in The World Kindness Movement which is not affiliated with any religion or political movement. The mission of the World Kindness Movement and World Kindness Day is to create a kinder world by inspiring individuals and nations towards greater kindness.
I challenge our community to take part by carrying out an act of kindness this week. No matter whether you are a student, parent or member of our wider community, your act matters. Believe it or not, it can challenge, because it may involve observation and action. A great first step is taking the time to notice those around you who could benefit from your act of kindness and how best can you carry out that act. Australian Books for Children of Africa
As part of the Year 9 Environment Challenge, some Shelford students are volunteering at ABCA (Australian Books for Children of Africa) in late November. To support this local charity, situated in Caulfield South, we would appreciate any pre-loved books to donate.
- Books suitable for children between the ages of 2 and 15 years old.
- Good quality books, both fiction and nonfiction, other than history books.
- New and pre-loved, including story books, dictionaries and atlases.
- Only books written in English.
- No books with weak spines and/or scribbles, please.

Please bring any books to the IRC and we will ensure they are packed by our Year 9’s. The School will be able to track where the books end up.
