Student Opportunities
Youth Mayor & Youth Deputy Mayor Work Experience Program: Hume Youth Services is offering two Year 10 students an exciting opportunity to be the Youth Mayor and Youth Deputy Mayor during Victorian Youth Week (5 to 14 April, 2019). The one week work experience will include attending a Council meeting and events with the Mayor and/or Deputy Mayor. Students will also work alongside the Youth Services team to undertake community engagement during Youth Week. Students will have a great opportunity to see what it truly means to be Mayor and Deputy Mayor and how the decisions that the Council make affect the whole municipality. Corporal Cameron Baird MC VG Memorial Award: Applications are now open for the Corporal Cameron Baird VC MG Award that recognises the legacy of Corporal Cameron Baird VC MG, a Hume local and national hero who was killed in action in 2013. In his honour, up to $5,000 is available to help young people in Hume achieve their dreams.
Young people (12 to 24 years of age) can self-nominate, or be nominated, to be considered for the Award in either category:
- Leading from the Front Achievement Award – recognising achievements in sport, community, art, employment or education.
- Gaining Ground Encouragement Award – recognising commitment to an area of interest.
