College Play

The students involved in this year’s College Play, Moliere’s 'Tartuffe' surprised many with a slick and very funny production under the direction of Ms Jacquelyne Armstrong. The students were required to handle some complex and fast-paced rhyming dialogue as well as detailed physical movement. The set design by Year 10 students, Manisha A and Sarah K, was delightful and the costumes, coordinated by Isabelle D, were some of the most lavish we have seen. The make-up team, Mia C and Dilra U, also had their work cut out for them as did the Props Crew, Alanna S, sourcing some vintage pieces. While much of the glory goes to the cast, the work of many students behind the scenes cannot be underestimated. We also recognise and congratulate Molly R, (Stage Manager), David N, (Lighting), Sean B, (Audio) and Lewis M, (Publicity and Marketing) and their teacher, Ms Jacqueline Flood.

Twilight Outdoor Concert - 29 October

Tuesday's forecast is for a mostly sunny day with an expected top temperature of 27 degrees. That sounds like a perfect opportunity to come out and support the College and its students while enjoying some great music. This year’s Twilight Concert moves back to where it all started, in the Chapel and Performing Arts Centre Plaza. Held in conjunction with the College Open Evening, students from most year levels in the school will be featured on the outdoor stage, including a number of our ensembles; Aitken Songsters, Voices Choir, Guitar and Strings Groups, Year 6 Music Students and our Year 10 Music Performance Class.

Entry to this performance is free. A BBQ will be available for purchase from the Parents and Friends Association and an ice-cream van will be on site and the Cafe2U coffee van. Or bring your own family picnic! Bring a blanket to sit on, or a fold-up chair and join us anytime between 3.30pm and 7.00pm. All welcome to this wonderful school community event.

Vision Outbreak

From 6.15pm on Tuesday, towards the end of Open Evening, we will be proudly launching our second Kool Skools Album, containing 10 original tracks, written and recorded by Aitken students at Studio 52 in Collingwood. During the launch, six of the 10 songs featured on the album will be performed.

Director’s Choice Gala Concert

I am very excited about the diverse line up for our end of year showcase event, The Director’s Choice Gala Concert. Starting at 7.30pm on Thursday 31 October, I will be presenting some of my favourite acts from throughout the year. Students are invited to perform in this concert which aims to provide the breadth of performing arts experiences across the year from Media, Music and Theatre. As always, we will preview a song from next year’s College Musical as well as enjoying some of our best senior students, many performing for the final time. Our Year 4 students will reprise their number from the Cumberland Concert and we will be joined by a former student who has continued in his pursuit of a career in Performing Arts. Tickets are $11.00 each (including booking fee) or ‘4 for the price of 3’ or five tickets for $35.00. If you are thinking of coming along, I encourage you to invite someone else and make a group booking at: https://www.trybooking.com/BEUTK
