ATHLETICS CARNIVAL WRAP
WOW! What a sensational day our students had last Friday at our annual Andrew Lesniewski Whole School Athletics Carnival. There was such a buzz as our House Captains took the lead and began our day with our new House chants - some very motivating, powerful and team-spirited lyrics indeed! Well done to our House Captains for their creative efforts in devising them for their House groups this year.
Both the Senior and Junior carnival began with an opening Athletics prayer and with no time to spare, both carnivals split into their respective groupings and began their day.
Our Junior carnival saw all classes compete in 6-7 events, including Javelin throw, Hurdles, Tunnel Ball, Sprint, Long Jump, tabloid Shot Put and our Year 1 & 2’s ended the day with a Shuttle relay. House Points and ribbons were awarded for Hurdles, Sprint and Long Jump this year, which created a lovely competitive touch to their carnival.
Congratulations to Nagle came away as the Junior Carnival overall winning House!
Our Senior carnival involved our Year 3 – 6’s in competing in various formal track and field events; including shot put, discus, long jump, triple jump, 100m sprint, 200m and 800m. It was fantastic to see each group support each other over the day, no matter what House they represented. To add to Nagle’s winning start, Nagle House also came away as the winners of their Senior Carnival!
Our overall winning House was revealed at the end of the day; with NAGLE our clear winner this year. Final placings were as follows:
Junior Carnival: 1st: Nagle 637 2nd: Xavier 497 3rd: Marian 437 4th: Finbar 313
Senior Carnival: 1st: Nagle 2125 2nd: Finbar 1933 3rd: Xavier 1661 4th: Marian 1366
OVERALL TOTALS:
1ST: NAGLE 2762 2nd: FINBAR 2246 3rd: XAVIER 2158 4th: MARIAN 1803
A MASSIVE THANK YOU to all of our parents that were able to help out at this carnival. We cannot thank you enough for the amazing support you gave to our students over the day for both carnivals! To run a carnival on such a scale, it really is so wonderful to know we have such willing and able parents to step in to support us – so thank you everyone!
Our Andrew Lesniewski Year 6 ‘House Spirit Award’ trophy recipients this year went to Isabelle F (6C) and Luke C (6C). Both displayed many of the special qualities that our past student; Andrew possessed himself; that of positivity, kindness, respect for all and the ability to praise others when due. Congratulations to them both!
Event results will be collated and competitors to represent our school in the Term 3 District Athletics will be sorted over the first half of term 2. Well done to everyone involved!
