F/1/2 News
The F/1/2 students have continued to have a great term of learning.
Yesterday we celebrated 100 days of school, with the theme 100 days brighter. The students came dressed in bright colours and participated in activities centred around the number 100. The students had the opportunity to participate in writing 100 words, 100s chart investigations, smarties bingo with numbers up to 100, and decorating biscuits. Making it to 100 days of school is a great milestone for the Foundation students as it is the completion of their first 100 days and for the Grade 1/2s as they celebrate another 100 days. It has been amazing to see how much all of the students have learnt so far this year.
Over the next two weeks we will be finishing our unit on money where students have been learning about the value of money, how to order money by value, and how to count collections of money. We will be starting a unit on Division and Multiplication next week.
In English, we have been learning about non-fiction texts and how they are constructed. We will be continuing this topic for the rest of the term.
We have also been preparing for our whole school excursion. As a class we have been looking at the location maps and discussing what we are most interested in seeing. The students were especially interested in how the different floors were represented on the map. Building on this discussion about the venues having different levels, we have also been learning about what an escalator is and how to safely get on and off of it.
Grade 3/4 News
This fortnight the grade 3/4 class have been creating narrative writing pieces, we are all excited by the crazy prompts we created and have enjoyed looking for solutions to the problems that have arisen in the stories.
In Maths we have been focusing on fractions and this week we are looking at Angles.
In religion we are focusing on the sacraments of initiation. We have just learnt about baptism and what a baptism is. Next we will learn about confirmation.
In cross curriculum we have been looking at data, how we collect data, how we can transfer data and how we can present data. We look forward to doing our term 3 ERPs on the topic of technology!
