Book Week incursion and Book Fair
CBCA Book Week Incursion for all students on Wednesday 9th August at CJC
About the show:
Henry and Marley have been friends since they met at kindergarten, a long time ago now. They’ve been on adventures, shared their hopes and dreams and generally always looked out for each other. But recently something has changed. Henry has started avoiding Marley at school. He’s too busy for their usual catch ups on the weekend. He’s started dressing differently. In fact – he’s not acting like Henry at all. It turns out Henry has started thinking he’s WAY TOO COOL! for any of that stuff. Marley must embark on an adventure to find out what has made Henry change and how, or even if, she can make things the way they used to be. Could the answers lie in the books they used to love to share?!
WAY TOO COOL! is a new educational musical created to celebrate CBCA Book Week 2023 and celebrate its theme. It is a highly interactive musical adventure that explores situations that every audience member, regardless of their age or background, will be able to relate to. At its heart WAY TOO COOL! is a celebration of the way books and the 2023 CBCA Shortlist can inspire every individual on their journey of personal growth and development. It is also a journey that leads the characters and your students through the twists and turns of mapping out a way to solve their differences using empathy, kindness and a strong sense of humour.
Make sure your payment and permission forms are back by August 7 at the latest.
The annual Book Fair will launch at CJC on Tuesday 15th August in the SLC!
What is in a book?
Giving your child a book is giving them a master key that opens doors to knowledge, imagination, dreams, creativity, pleasure and independence. By developing their literacy skills, they become more confident readers and in turn nurture their love of learning independently, a skill that they will carry throughout their lives.
Each book you buy helps our school, which in turn benefits your child
To add a cherry on top, every book you purchase for your child, our school gets a commission. These funds are reinvested into your child’s learning through more books for our school library. It really is a win-win!
How it works
Students will visit the fair during their school library session and fill out a “wish list” to take home. You will be able to place an order and pay online, and the students will receive their book(s) from school the next day.
Alternatively, the fair will be opened to families who wish to browse with their child(ren), there will be an EFTPOS facility to make payment on the spot and take the purchase(s) with you. Opening times for families:
- Tuesday 15/8 to Friday 18/08 from 3.30 pm to 4.15 pm
- Monday 21/08 from 3.30 pm to 4.15 pm
Please note:
- Students must be accompanied by an adult to the Book Fair at all times.
- Cards only, please no cash handling.
- Please use the door nearest the junior building, to not disrupt Team Kids afterschool activities).
