Dear O’Connor Community,
It is with a heavy heart that I say farewell to you all. Unfortunately I am needed back in Sydney with my extended family for the foreseeable future. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your support and friendship in my time at O’Connor. I have enjoyed getting to know you and your wonderful children. The O’Connor community is very special and it will always hold a special place in my heart.
I am so proud of our achievements in my time at O’Connor such as:
- The collaboration between staff, students and parents to create the new winter jacket. It has been wonderful seeing how proud our students are of their uniform.
- The development of the House structure including the new logos and badges. Our Year 12 Leaders were instrumental in creating the logos and fostering a sense of community with the students in their House especially at the Athletics Carnival and Founder’s Day.
- Accelerated classes in Mathematics, Music and Agriculture. The view that students progress based on their abilities, is important to fostering a strengths-based approach to their learning.
- Early commencement of VET in Year 10. This allows our Year 10 students to gain valuable skills and experience in industry so that they can gain an apprenticeship. Our partnerships program with Training and Services NSW has also seen greater opportunities for School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs) for our students in Years 10 - 12. This has also led to a stronger partnership with TAFE which also provides further opportunities for our students as part of our post-school options program.
To our students I wish you all the best. Always remember
- your best is always enough,
- your dreams are achievable with consistent effort and
- most importantly you are only defined by your actions; so be kind, have integrity in all you do and know that hope is a gift best shared.
God bless,
Mrs Clare Healy,
Principal
