Principal's Page

Dear Families,

Staff have been focusing on Mathematics learning and teaching over the past eighteen months in an intensive partnership with consultants from Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS). Our school goal is to develop teacher capacity in pedagogical practices in Mathematics to improve all students' engagement and growth. The word pedagogy means the how. Staff were engaged in a full day of learning today.

Welcome

We warmly welcome Chloe (Year 2) and Noah (Prep) and their family to the St Joseph's community. May their time here at St Joseph's be positive and rewarding.

Condolences

The mother of Laura Dimogerondas (Mrs D, 1/2 Teacher)  Antonietta Mitrione, passed away last week. Please keep Laura and her family in your thoughts and prayers at this sad time.

Congratulations

Congratulations Parker on receiving the Padua College Perseverance Conquers All Award for demonstrating courage, perseverance and care for themselves and others. He is dedicated to his schooling and has worked to the best of his ability. Mr Sonny Voss, the Learning and Pedagogy Leader from Padua College presented Parker with his award at last Wednesday's assembly.

Padua College

We were notified by Padua College last week that nine of our 2023 Year Six students received academic, excellence and endeavour awards for Semester One. Many of the students received multiple awards. It is always wonderful to hear past St Joseph's students experiencing success.

Wall Update

The works on the wall and reactivation of the learning space outside the prep space has been delayed again, due to work commencing on the surface of Riley Lane. We are hoping that it will be completed next term. Thank you for your patience with this.

Bunnings Barbecue

What a wonderful team effort with so many families involved through volunteering their time, donating sausages, money, condiments etc. Thank you to Liz Meyer for organising the event. We appreciate the generous contribution from Belle Property Group Blairgowrie and Brumby's Sorrento for looking after us by supplying the bread. Thank you also to Bunnings Rosebud for providing the opportunity. Over $2500 was raised and the funds will be put towards some soft seating and equipment in the new outdoor learning area.

Thank you to all the parents working behind the scenes with props and costumes for our whole school  concert. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

We have lots of exciting learning opportunities and events coming up over the next few weeks. Please check the calendar on the next page for specific dates and we will endeavour to keep you updated via Operoo.

I enjoy my role as Principal of this community and the opportunities I have in this privileged position to make positive impacts on student and families lives. I have an open door policy and welcome feedback for continuous improvement for all members of St Joseph's School community.

Have a great week,

Monica
