NAIDOC WEEK

NAIDOC Week is a significant annual event in Australia that celebrates the culture, history, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. "NAIDOC" stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee, the organisation that originally established the week. During NAIDOC Week, which is usually held in the first week of July, communities across the country come together to honour the rich traditions and diverse cultures of Indigenous Australians. At STMM we celebrated by completing a range of activities in class including singing, dancing, artworks, reading picture books, dreamtime stories and more! As a whole school, students and staff wore the colours of the Aboriginal Flag and enjoyed a beautiful smoking ceremony facilitated by John Allen. John Allen is a local Elder who is passionate about his culture, faith and education.

FAMILY MASS

Thank you to all of the families who joined us for our Family Mass on Sunday. We were blessed with beautiful weather as we gathered and celebrated our Grandparents. I would like to thank the students and families who offered to read and be active participants in the mass. I would also like to thank the teachers who completed thoughtful reflections with their class on their Grandparents which are currently on display in the Church.

COMMUNION PREP

Please keep in your thoughts and prayers the students who are beginning their preparations to receive their First Holy Communion.
