Virtual Tour
It’s all happening at Launch…
We are well and truly back into the swing of learning as we approach the beginning of Week Four. It’s hard to believe that we are already more than half way through the year! Beginning conversations are taking place around planning for 2024, class structures, staffing and budgets. This Monday we hosted our incoming Prep students for our Kinder Prep Transition Program. It was a hit with our newest friends taking part in some enjoyable singing, music and dancing with Ms Nyman.
Our students have also been well occupied with a variety of incursions and activities taking place over this first three weeks of term. All of our visiting teachers and program leaders have mentioned how wonderful our student are, thoughtful in their questions and willing to give anything a go.
Some wonderful news…
I sent letters out to Prep M families and 5/6C families last week informing them that two of our teachers have each announced they are expecting babies early in the new year and hence will be taking some family leave towards the end of 2023. A big congratulations to each of our teachers following this wonderful news.
Staffing Update
The final piece of our staffing puzzle has been solved with Ms. Ashleigh McVeigh accepting a teaching position at Launch beginning Monday 14th August. Ashleigh will be teaching 3/4C on Mondays, 1/2C on Wednesday and as well as helping us out by assisting in classes and providing leadership time to some of our teachers who hold additional responsibilities. Ashleigh lives down the line, has a young daughter and is passionate about teaching. I am confident she will be an excellent addition to our staff.
School Council
Monday evening we held our July School Council Meeting with agenda items including:
- Prioritising buildings and grounds areas for improvement.
- Minor capital works grants application completed.
- P and F approval for events.
- Ratification of financial reports for June
Thank you to our School Councillors for donating their time.
We want to know what our Launch families think!
Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents / caregivers / guardians think of our school. The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. The survey is optional but we encourage all families to participate. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies. All families are invited to participate in the survey.
The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open from Monday 7 August to Friday 8 September 2023.
The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the survey period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. Keep an eye out on Compass for the link!
Prioritising School Attendance
It is important to reiterate the importance of the children attending school each school day when they are able, as every day matters. Of course, there have been many, many communications sent home to families over the past three years outlining the importance of staff and students staying home when unwell, especially when exhibiting Covid 19 related symptoms. This message remains as important now as in the past and we appreciate you all helping out; thank you!
School Production
We are now kicking into rehearsals for the Whole School Production of September 4 and 5 so not long to go! No doubt in the next few weeks, you will receive lots of correspondence from our Arts Teacher and Production Coordinator Ms Nyman and your child’s class teacher. Please lend us a hand by monitoring any COMPASS notifications or notices that come out.
Assembly reminder
Tomorrow is the day, if you are free pop down to the GP room for a 9:00am start.
