Learning Updates -

School of Wonder

School of Wonder - Welcome to Term 3!

Welcome to Term 3. Our learners have settled in the term wonderfully, demonstrating an understanding and appreciation of St Anne’s expectations. Their eagerness to learn, investigate, question and explore will continue to be nurtured through purposeful learning experiences throughout the term.

Holidays

It has been wonderful to see everyone return from holidays refreshed and ready to learn. So many of our learners had amazing opportunities over the holidays and many experienced overseas trips, time with families, adventure parks and much more. We love to hear about the many adventures of our learners. If you have photos to share, please bring them in.

Assembly

Our first assembly for Term 3 will be next Monday (July 24th) at 9.10am on the Turtle Shell, and will be hosted by Lauren’s pastoral group (Years 1/2). We welcome all families to join us in celebrating our School of Wonder.

St Anne’s Feast Day - Wednesday the 26th of July

Next Wednesday we celebrate St Anne’s Feast Day at St Mel’s Christ the King Church, 18 Hamilton St Shepparton commencing at 12 noon. We invite all families to join us for Mass.

Leaving no Trace

In SOW this semester we commit to leaving no trace. We commit to tidying and packing up our learning spaces when we are leaving. This is a song we are using to assist our learners and it may even assist at home!!!

Message from Emma

Thank you to the staff and students for the warm welcome into the School of Wonder. I have had an amazing beginning to this role and have loved engaging with our new and current families. If I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting you yet, I am located in Study 9 of our new building, amongst the grade 1/2 space, so please pop your head in and say hello. I am looking forward to working closely with our students and supporting them in every way possible.

Foundation Learners

This Term Foundation students will be exploring different fairy tales. Students began the term focusing on the story of Jack and the Beanstalk in Literacy and Wonderplay. Students unpacked some of the elements that make up a fairy tale, including characters and settings. They created their own characters and settings for their own fairy tale. Students were also hands-on, creating their own beanstalks out of different materials. They used different forms of measurement to measure the length of their beanstalks including rules and their body lengths.  Foundation students are also exploring addition and friends of 10 this term in Maths.

Years 3/4 Visual Arts

Students in Years 3/4 have designed and created a pinch pot out of clay. They drew the pot from three elevations. The pots were bisque fired over the holidays and they have had glaze brushed onto them ready for the glaze firing. We are very excited to see how they come out of the kiln. Students in the next few weeks can take their pinch pots home - perfect for their first plant.
