Acting Principal's Notes

PD Session

This week, Amy and I completed a PD course on Communication Strategies For Autistic Children. We learnt many good strategies that can be put into any classroom and benefit all children. Clear, simple and explicit instructions using visual clues are very important. It seems like common sense but sometimes it doesn't' hurt to have a reminder.

Martial arts lessons

We have confirmed our Sporting School sessions for martial arts in Hamilton with Master Mukhtar.  Years 4/6 - 22nd and 29th August and Years F/2 - 5th and 12th September between 2-3pm.

Thank you

Thank you to Paul Coates for hanging up the Australian, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags under our covered area and completing the installation of new LED lights throughout the whole school.   Tim Huf and Carly Behncke for putting up the rubber padding on the platform of the flying fox.  Jodie Young for doing some gardening in her spare time and any other parents who have contributed to jobs around the school and in the F/1 class as helpers.  We can't do all these things on our own and we appreciate any help provided.

Scholastic Bookclub

Issue 6 of the Scholastic Bookclub was handed out today. If you are ordering please use the online LOOP ordering system found in the brochure. Thanks to bonus points we receive whenever an order is placed, the school was able to purchase all the Bookweek Shortlisted Picture Books for 2023.

Ms Ferrier

Well the time has come and Ms Ferrier will be back at school next Monday.  Her and Allan have absolutely loved their trip abroad and no doubt would be very sad that it has come to an end.

Staffing

A big thank you to Mrs G, Mrs Bell and Mrs McNaughton for taking on extra work while Ms Ferrier was away.  We are very lucky to have such wonderful staff who are willing to take on extra duties when needed.  Another thank you to Tammy Crawford our incredible capable and efficient Business Manager. Together we all make a great team!  Thank you ladies.

Acting Principal

Just thought I would hijack Miss P's newsletter blurb to thank her for all her extra work as Acting Principal while Ms Ferrier was on long service leave.  Miss P has done an amazing job at stepping into this challenging role and has kept the school ticking along nicely.  Well done Miss P.  See you back at school on Monday as your usual role of classroom teacher 😊
